Description
The World Energy Statistics online data service contains key energy statistics for 155 countries and 35 regional aggregates. Data are provided in original units for the different types of coal, oil, natural gas, renewables and waste, as well as for electricity and heat. In general, the data are available from 1971 (1960 for OECD countries).
In a continuous effort to provide users with more timely data, the 2021 edition was expanded to increase data coverage for the most recent year (2020):
- Full 2020 energy statistics tables and balances are available for 8 non-OECD countries: Argentina; Benin; Brazil; Ghana; Hong Kong (China); Mauritius; Chinese Taipei and Uruguay.
- Coverage of total electricity generation by product has been extended, now including 47 non-OECD countries and additional regional aggregates such as the European Union and the IEA Family; with nuclear generation now available for all countries and regional aggregates.
- Coverage of imports and exports of crude oil and oil products is complete for People’s Republic of China; India; Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Russian Federation; with data for imports and exports of crude oil, exports of NGL and imports and exports of total oil products also available for another 23 non-OECD countries and some regional aggregates, such as European Union, China (P.R. of China and Hong Kong, China) and G8.
- In addition to supply, selected demand flows for 2020 are now available for OECD countries, thanks to the recent expansion of the mini-questionnaires sent to national administrations.
